FULFILLING THE ENGLISH REQUIREMENT / Graduate Programs

1. What is the English language requirement for admission to graduate programs at METU?
All students have to provide an English exam score for admission to an graduate program. The indicated score obtained from any of the exams in the table below is sufficient for admission.

Admission to graduate programs (GENERAL) **

           

METU EPE: METU English Proficiency Exam
TOEFL IBT: Test of English as a Foreign Language, Internet-based
TOEFL PBT : Test of English as a Foreign Language, Paper-based
IELTS - International English Language Testing System / Academic Version (Average of four components)
* TOEFL PBT is only valid with the TWE (Test of Written English) grade as indicated in the above table. TOEFL PBT which is administered by institutions (Institutional TOEFL) is not valid.
** The concerned Graduate School / Academic Program may raise the required score for admission to a graduate program.
The results of these exams are valid for two years.

 

2. When do I need to submit my language score?
Candidates applying to graduate programs must submit a score certifying their proficiency in the English language during their application to the program. Therefore, candidates who do not have a valid score must take a METU - EPE given before the deadline for applications to graduate programs.

 

3. When can I take METU EPE? How can I register for the exam?
You can take the exam in September, April or June.
