5. Who teaches these courses?
The courses are taught by instructors of the Department of Basic English and the Department of Modern Languages in the School of Foreign Languages, Middle East Technical University.

 

6. Is transportation available?
There are free bus services available for participants at 9:00 a.m. from SIHHIYE and TUNUS to the Department of Basic English, where the courses are held. There are, again, free buses at 1:40 p.m. back to SIHHIYE and TUNUS.

 

7. Where are the courses held?
The courses are held on the Middle East Technical University campus, in the the buildings of the Department of Basic English.

 

8. Is a language certificate given upon completing any one of the courses?
A ceritificate is given to those students who have completed Upper-Intermediate and/or Advanced levels of the General English program.

 

9. What are the criteria for being granted a language certificate?

The Upper-Intermediate and/or Advanced level students can receive a langauge certificate provided they meet the following criteria:

  • attending at least 84 hours (70%) of the 120-hour course;
  • taking at least 2 of the 3 (or 3 of the 4) quizzes and the final exam administered throughout the course;
  • having received a minimum average score of 40% on the quizzes, 60% on the final exam and a total score of minimum 60.

 

10. Is attendance obligatory?
In the event that absenteeism exceeds 30% of the total class hours, the student is required to repeat the course.

 

11. How many students are there in each class?
The number of students per class ranges between 15 and 20.
