Academic Writing Center (AWC)

Academic Writing Center

The Academic Writing Center (AWC) of the School of Foreign Languages aims to support the development of English academic and scientific writing skills, primarily among graduate students and faculty members.

The Center provides individual writing consultations to support the development of academic texts. These sessions focus on various stages of the writing process, including planning, organizing, revising, and improving written work. Particular emphasis is placed on helping students and academics develop effective writing and revision strategies and become more confident and independent writers. Individual online consultation sessions are offered to graduate students and faculty members.

In addition to individual consultations, seminars and workshops are organized on academic writing and a variety of writing-related topics. Tailor-made presentations and training sessions can also be arranged upon request to address the specific needs and interests of particular groups of students or academics.

The Center's approach extends beyond providing support for individual academic texts; it aims to foster the long-term development of students and academics as effective, independent, and competent academic writers. Please note that proofreading and translation services are not provided by the Center.

Further information about consultation appointments, events, and the services offered by the Center is available at awc.metu.edu.tr.
