Accessibility Unit
The Accessibility Unit operating within the Department of Basic English (DBE) and the Department of Modern Languages (DML) aims to support the equal and effective participation of students with diverse learning needs and individual requirements in their educational processes.
Working in close coordination and collaboration with the METU Accessibility Office, the Unit plays an active role in identifying students' needs, establishing appropriate support mechanisms, and facilitating the implementation of necessary arrangements in cooperation with relevant academic and administrative units.
Individualized and differentiated support is provided in accordance with each student's specific circumstances, learning needs, and requirements. Particular emphasis is placed on ensuring appropriate learning conditions that enable students to participate effectively in academic activities. To this end, continuous communication and collaboration are maintained with relevant stakeholders to plan and implement necessary academic adjustments and support measures.
The Unit's fundamental approach is to ensure that support is not limited to a particular course, examination, or academic term, but is provided continuously and consistently throughout students' university life at METU. Within this framework, the Unit seeks to contribute to the development of an accessible and inclusive learning environment that responds to students' evolving needs at different stages of their academic journey.
